The principle of ultrasound is based on the fact that different tissues of our body differently transmit (reflect) ultrasonic waves.
A compulsory part of each ultrasound device is a sensor, which is both an ultrasound transmitter and a receiver of the reflected signal. The signal received by the sensor, after special treatment, is displayed on the monitor of the apparatus in the form of an image of the investigated organ. Ultrasound allows you to see the contours of the investigated organs, to assess their shape and size. Therefore, it is possible to detect anatomical defects, anomalies of development of internal organs. Ultrasound diagnostics of pregnancy allows to reveal consolidations of different character (which is often a sign of a disease), as well as foreign entities: stones in the gall bladder, kidneys, cysts of ovaries, tumors of different organs
As a rule, ultrasound is performed by the following bodies:
Organs of the abdominal cavity, including the complex:
- liver, gallbladder
- pancreas
- the spleen
- functional gallbladder test
Abdominal space:
- kidneys
- adrenal glands
Pelvic organs:
- Bladder
- determination of residual urine.
The ultrasound is also performed:
- thyroid gland
- hearts (echocardiography or echo-CG)
- hip joint in children up to 6 months
- knee joints
- soft tissues
